Cold rooms

A cold room is an insulated enclosure held at a set temperature by refrigeration. Scroll to see how its parts work together.

How a cold room works

  1. Insulated panels

    They form the walls, floor and ceiling. They keep heat out and cold in.

  2. Door

    It closes the opening and seals it while people and stock move in and out.

  3. Evaporator

    Inside the room, it draws heat out of the air its fans move past it.

  4. Condensing unit

    Outside the room, it compresses the refrigerant and releases the heat. The refrigerant travels between it and the evaporator through copper pipework.

Generic industry ranges, typical and to be confirmed by Al Ameen.

Confirm with client

  1. Ambient Room temperature
  2. Chilled +2 to +8 °C
  3. Frozen −18 to −25 °C
  4. Deep-frozen −30 to −40 °C

Proposed project sequence

A sequence proposed by Valdenro for a cold-room project. Al Ameen's actual process is to be confirmed.

  1. Requirements

    Agree the room size, the product to store and the temperature.

  2. Design and quotation

    Specify the room and its refrigeration, then price the work.

  3. Installation

    Fit the panels, door, refrigeration and pipework on site.

  4. Handover

    Test the system and hand it over.
